There’s no denying that McDonald’s Egg McMuffin is one of the most famous fast food menu items of all time. The simple combination of egg, Canadian bacon and cheese on a toasted and buttered English muffin is just a joyful way to start your day. And, hey, if that combo is so basic, this recipe must be easy to make at home, right?
Indeed, of all the amazing ways to eat eggs, a classic egg and cheese sandwich is one of the most satisfying. The build of an Egg McMuffin is almost identical to a NYC-style bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. You fry up some meat, cook an egg and layer those two items on a toasted something-something along with a piece of American cheese. The process takes less than 15 minutes, which is honestly a heck of a lot faster than sitting in the drive-thru on your way to work or school.

Crab rangoon is a favorite takeout appetizer you can make at home in a matter of minutes. Mix together crab meat (or imitation crab) and cream cheese, fold into a wonton wrapper and toss in your air fryer. Pair with bright red sweet-and-sour sauce for the complete restaurant experience.
You don’t have to waste money on expensive Italian takeout because this cuisine can easily be made at home. Take, for instance, this pasta recipe that stars a creamy pesto sauce and garlicky shrimp. Not a seafood fan? Swap the shellfish for chicken or forego the protein to make this dish meatless.

Toss pork shoulder with some pantry staple spices into a slow cooker, and within a few hours, it is the perfect filling for tacos, which you can top with pickled onions, cilantro, radishes and bit of cotija cheese for a street taco experience. Have leftover pork? Enjoy it served over rice for lunch the next day.

The key to getting your egg perfectly circular a la Mickey D’s is to use an egg ring. This handy kitchen tool will make your fried egg fit exactly on top of your English muffin. Of course, if you don’t have one, you can just fry an egg perfectly and fold the whites over to fit on your sandwich as you assemble.
The best part of making your Egg McMuffin at home is that you can customize it to your preferences. If you don’t have Canadian bacon or don’t like it, you can swap it out for ham, bacon, breakfast sausage, vegetarian sausage, sauteed veggies or some of these unexpected ingredients that go great with eggs. The ease of this dish and it’s kid-friendly components make it one of the best breakfasts for busy weekday mornings.
