After opening two seaside bars in the Caribbean, Clint and Kristen Gaskins launched their latest venture a bit closer to home.
The Longboard, a seafood restaurant combining Caribbean and Lowcountry flavors, opened its doors on Sullivan’s Island on Aug. 13.
“For us, it was kind of bringing everything back home,” Clint Gaskins said.
The new restaurant follows two other island-inspired eateries the Gaskins founded in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The first, also called The Longboard, was launched on St. John Island in 2015. The second, The Easterly, opened on St. Thomas Island in 2020.
The new Longboard is similarly beachy, drawing on many of the food and drink offerings of its Caribbean counterparts with Lowcountry elements added. Dishes include mango and cucumber salad, drunken prawns with Carolina Gold rice and grilled okra with lamb belly.
The Longboard features a raw bar with oysters, shrimp and other seafood items.
The Longboard, 2213-B, Middle St., is open 3-10 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday. For information, call 843-309-3018 or visit thelongboardsullivans.com.
